Believe it or not, you don’t have to join a gym to get in shape and stay that way. Before I joined a gym, I worked out in my living room every day for five years. I never wanted to join a public gym. I can be myself at home and even goof around while I workout. At a gym, since it’s a public place it can be a little less comfortable for some people. If your goal is to be lean and toned, have a swimmer’s build etc… you can attain that at home. Below are some excellent home workout series that are effective and informative. The trainers in these videos will work you out and also teach you about the exercises, so you know what you’re doing and why.
Warning: If you want to put on serious muscle, I suggest joining a gym. Unless, you have enough money and room to have many varying weights and other equipment for heaving lifting, e.g. a squat rack, barbells, etc.
